Overview:
Eye-Deal Optical is an independent retail optical store that opened in 1981. We are located in West Hempstead, Long Island and provide full-service optical eye care, prescription glasses, and fashionable eyewear for youths, teens and adults.
We are seeking an experienced and talented New York State-licensed optician with exceptional customer service skills. Applicants must be able to guide patients in their proper frame and lens selection, possess fitting and adjusting skills; and have experience working with vision insurance plans. Individual must be sales savvy and aware of current fashion trends.
Requirements:
- Current New York State Opticians’ License
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Minimum of 5 years of retail optical experience
- Medical records experience and knowledge of vision care plans
Responsibilities:
- Provide a pleasant client experience to every patient.
- Guide patients on their frame and their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs and their lifestyle preferences.
- Stay current on product knowledge and fashion trends.
- Interpret physicians' prescriptions and neutralize patients' own glasses.
- Communicate with physician/optometrist with questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues.
- Operate digital lens-meter, digital tracer and edger, and other tools to accurately neutralize and verify prescriptions in patients' own glasses and finished eye-wear.
- Accurately take and record measurements.
- Ability to adjust frames and process small in-house repairs.
- Provide contact lens instruction.
